THE: DAWN encapsulates a study on Taiping as a heritage town, as conducted by the 3rd year students from the Department of Landscape Architecture, Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
This project is part of the Landscape Heritage and Cultural Studies course, as to fulfill the requirement for Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Honours). THE:DAWN is a national collaboration with Malaysia National Commission for UNESCO with the purpose to document and promote Taiping’s landscape and cultural heritage.
The findings shared in this website emphasise on Taiping’s natural, physical, and cultural assets and its vicinity, such as Kuala Sepetang and Bukit Larut, through descriptive images, interactive maps, infographics and timelines. The project records the evolution of Taiping from the birth of the tin mining site to its current urban forms, capturing the growth of various communities and vibrant lifestyle.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO for funding the project. Additionally, we would like to record our appreciation to Department of Landscape Architecture, Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design, and International Islamic University Malaysia for their continuous support throughout the project and exhibition. Thank you also to Majlis Perbandaran Taiping, Galeri Perbandaran Taiping, St. George School, as well as visitors and residents of Bandar Taiping and Taman Tasik Taiping for assisting us in collecting the data on site. Last but not least, many thanks to Rimbun Ceri and Team Omma Cadin for the generous sponsorship.
